do you know what a doppelganger is?

Doppelganger. Say it with me- doppelganger. Just makes you giggle. It's one of my favorite words. In fact, I used it in conversation with my husband just last week. (I often get teased for my unusual vocabulary.) But do you know what it means?

I'll let you think for a second.

Ok, give up? A doppelganger is like a twin...someone who bears a striking resemblance to someone else. Could be someone famous, or just someone you saw at the grocery store. Over the years, I've been told that I look like lots of people, from celebrities to people around town. In fact, my cousin is convinced that I secretly live in Flagstaff.

Anyways, over on Facebook, I've heard that it's "doppelganger" week. Some people are posting a picture in their status of someone they've been told that they resemble. I wanted to share a few different options that I've heard before and get your feedback...

First

In 1993, someone stopped in JFK airport and asked for "my" autograph. In all fairness, I was wearing one of those stupid floppy hats with the flower on it, but still. It was a blow to my teenage self-esteem.

Next (although I only heard this from one friend, and there may have been alcohol involved... In fact, he's married to one of you regular readers!)

And lastly

Believe it or not, I've heard this from multiple, unrelated sources. I don't see it, but I'll gladly take it!

And here's the real me, for your comparison:

your prayers have helped!

I had an appointment with my OB today, and went with a full list of questions regarding blood clots. And, I'm happy to report that I walked out feeling MUCH better about the situation. Thank you for your thoughts and emails during the last week...it was amazing to know that people were thinking of me.

I've been busy with travel agency stuff lately, which is a good (GREAT!) thing, but you've been sadly neglected. So sorry, my darlings! I'll try to get some pictures downloaded and shared soon.

Ok, enough for now...the kiddo is rousing from her 2nd day of napping in a row (cue the angles singing Hallelujiah!!)

Make it a great day~

a random tidbit...

Hi all,

In the last week or so, we've had visitors from Costa Rica, Canada, Spain, Belgium, and India checking out the blog. There have also been visitors from many states, including Texas, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Colorado, and Minnesota, among others. That's just cool to me.

Ok. Carry on.

:)

Hmmm....

....the sound of crickets chirping has not done well to comfort me. MEB~ surely you have something to say about blood clots that will make me feel better?!?!

a diagnosis

Before I forget, yes, we were at the car wash on Monday, hence the picture. She is simultaneously horrified and mesmerized when we go through. Funny stuff.

So I was diagnosed with a superficial venous thrombosis today. Translation: a blood clot. But not the "ticking time bomb" kind of blood clot. More like the "uncomfortable, annoying" kind of blood clot. I noticed it a few months ago, but hadn't said anything to my Dr. because the pain came and went and the bump was not always noticable. Today, it was pretty big and pretty sore, so I decided to go in. Long story short, 1 Dr. appointment and one dopplar test later, and voila`, blood clot.

At first, I was not bothered by this, but the more I sit on it, the more stressed I'm getting. I know that a woman is generally more susceptible to clotting after delivery, and since I already have one, what does that mean for me? This is the first time I've been scared of giving birth. I just want it all over and done with a healthy baby and a healthy mama.

If you're inclined to pray, I ask that you pray for peace of mind and good health for me. And if you've had one of these superficial clottie-poos, I'd love to hear your story. Cause if you're around to tell your story, it clearly has a happy ending ;)

the drum roll please...

So, for a few months now, I've eluded to my new professional role. After loads of training and even a few bookings, I'm proud to announce that I'm officially a...TRAVEL PLANNER!!!! It's the perfect gig for me because I love travel, I'm the queen of details and organization, and I get to work from home and spend time with the kiddo.

So, what does that mean, exactly? Well, I can book cruises, all-inclusives, Europe/international tours, ski, hotel-only stays, honeymoons, multi-generational travel, and of course, all things Disney! In fact, my only limitation is that I can't help with air-only reservations. I can match prices that you find on consumer travel websites like Expedia, and do not charge any extra for my services (I'm paid by the suppliers who take a smaller fee in order to pay me for bringing them guests.)So, there's no reason not to give me a try! If you've been toying with the idea of getting out of here (or wherever you are), I'd love the opportunity to give you a quote. You can contact me at alisong@mei-travel.com

From time to time, I may use the blog to promote special deals at various vacation destinations. Like, did you know that Disney World is offering a gift card valued at up to $750 for vacation packages of 5 nights or more? That is a crazy good deal! If you're interested in visiting the Mouse, or know someone who is, send me an email and I'll get you a quote.

Bon Voyage~

take a guess

Here's a picture of Emerson as we were out and about today. Notice the look of sheer terror/piqued curiousity on her face. Care to guess what we were up to?

howdy!

Ok, so I realize that I haven't posted since last year , and for that, I ask for you deepest apologies. It's been a crazy week of unbelieveable cold temperatures, moody pregnantness, preparing for a weekend away with the girls, a tempermental 2 year-old, and the like. There have been days that I couldn't bear to do ANYTHING, not even turn on my computer. Is it possible to have postpartum depression prior to giving birth???

Anyway, I'm back from the land of the living dead, and I promise to keep in touch more in the next few days. I'll even have an announcement about my new job (that I've eluded to over the last few months!)

Make it a great week and stay warm!
