by george, i think he's got it

So my buddy Pete has taken to napping this week. Like REALLY napping, in his crib and everything. He has learned to suck his thumb, which is so cute to watch for some reason. I love to see the look of pure bliss on his little face when he gets that thumb into his sweet little mouth. Anyway, as the mom of a binkie girl, I can say that I MUCH prefer having a thumb sucker. There's no going in 15 times to put the binky back in his mouth, and that's SO nice. I'm not sure if he's going thru a growth spurt or if he's just learning to nap, but either way, I'll take it.

Last week, the carnival came to town, and Emerson was SO EXCITED to go. We saw the Ferris Wheel when were running errands one day during the week, and she told me that she wanted to ride it. And even when we got up close and saw how high it went, she was not deterred. It was the first ride of the day, and even little Pete got a trip, courtesy of the Baby Bjorn. We love the carnival!

this one's for uncle matt

Don't hate us, but we may have started without you...Emerson is quite the fisherwoman, and even caught one bluegill entirely by herself after Jeff cast the line into the pond. All told, they nabbed 2 bullheads and a half a dozen or so bluegills. I believe that's 800% more than your last men's fishing trip up north, isn't it?

2 quick shots

Can I say that I love, love, LOVE this picture of Emerson and my mom, whom she lovingly calls "Bert" {as in Sesame Street, and my dad is "Ernie." She loves to give people nicknames.} from yesterday. So darn sweet.

And while it's not the best picture, it's a good representation of what's been going on around here lately. Emerson has fallen for her brother. As I've explained to several people, I really don't get it. She has little incentive to love him...he takes up my time, cries loudly, stinks at playing games, and generally does not give much in return to her, save for some amazing smiles. But, nevertheless, she loves him. It's been SO COOl to watch.

So, our buddy Pete went for his 2 month checkup yesterday. He's 9 lbs, 9 oz and is 23 3/4 inches long. That puts him in the 10th percentile, and he's down from the 15th percentile at his 1 month check up. They want to monitor him to make sure that he doesn't go down again in a month. Oh, and he has a hernia. This poor kid...if it's not one thing, it's another. But I'm happy to report that my misgivings at 6 weeks are dissapating, and I honestly fall more and more in love with him every day. You should see him smile (I'm working on that one). My mom calls him "Mr. Personality," and she's spot on. What a little love.

We are so blessed.

well, hello there

Hi all. I have a minute...literally a minute and I wanted to add some pictures. Things have been great here of late. Emerson is falling in love with Pete, and it's so cool to watch. She loves to play with him and hold him, and yesterday, he smiled at her and I watched her melt into a puddle of goo. Sigh.

Here are a few shots of them playing together. There's also one of my parents and I with the grandkids.

I apologize for my lack of content here. As I type, I've got one finger on the binky of a screaming infant and the other hand holding my wild almost-3-year-old as she bounces on the couch. Awesome.
